I’m pleased to announce that I have completed intensive training by the Internal Family Systems Institute, and am now a Level 1 trained Internal Family Systems Therapist! I’m so excited to introduce the healing and deep internal connection that IFS will bring to my clients.
What is Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy is a therapeutic approach that views the mind as made up of different sub-personalities or “parts,” each with its own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These parts are often categorized into roles, such as the “Self,” which represents the core, compassionate, and balanced aspect of a person, “Managers” (which try to keep things under control) and “Exiles” (which carry past wounds or traumas). The goal of IFS is to help individuals understand and harmonize these parts, fostering a more integrated and authentic self. The therapist works with the client to identify, talk with, and ultimately heal the wounded parts, promoting emotional healing, self-compassion, and a stronger sense of internal unity. IFS is a powerful way to understand ourselves better and promote true healing.
How can IFS Therapy help me as a client?
Have you ever thought to yourself, a part of me wants to do this, and another part of me thinks maybe that’s not a good idea? That’s an example of being aware of different parts of ourselves. Everyone has parts!
